GM Employee Purchase Program (GMEPP)

The GM Employee Purchase Program offers special pricing and benefits to eligible employees, retirees, family members, and friends. To participate in the program, customers must obtain an Authorization Number before taking delivery of their vehicle.

GM now requires this Authorization Number at the time of delivery. Customers who previously relied on GM’s grace period to obtain their number after delivery may need to request it earlier in the process.

General Motors (GM) now requires customers to have their Authorization Number at the time of vehicle delivery. Many customers will not notice a difference since they already request and receive their Authorization Number before taking delivery of their new vehicle. However, customers who previously relied on GM’s grace period to obtain the Authorization Number after delivery may need to adjust to this change.

This change applies to programs related to the GM Employee Purchase Program, including but not limited to:

  1. GMS
  2. GM Supplier Discount for Friends
  3. GM Executive Discount
  4. GM Legacy Discount
  5. GM Supplier Discount

GM recommends requesting your Authorization Number before you begin shopping for a new vehicle. Employees or retirees can request the number themselves, or eligible family members and friends can have the employee request it on their behalf. Having the Authorization Number ahead of time helps ensure it is available when it’s time to take delivery of the vehicle.

Getting an authorization number

Authorization Numbers allow eligible customers to access special pricing through the GM Employee Purchase Program and related programs. Employees and retirees can obtain Authorization Numbers for themselves, family members, or friends through the official program website or by contacting the program directly.

Most Authorization Numbers are available immediately online, though some requests made by phone may take several business days to arrive for security purposes.

Employees and retirees can obtain an Authorization Number for themselves, their family members, or friends by visiting https://www.gmfamilyfirst.com/ or by calling (800) 235-4646.

Authorization Numbers are valid for 90 days toward the purchase or lease of an eligible new vehicle. The vehicle must be delivered before the Authorization Number expires. If the number is not used before the expiration date, the authorization will be returned to the employee’s account.

Most Authorization Numbers are available immediately through the GM Family First website. If requested by phone, the Authorization Number is delivered by FedEx or USPS for security reasons, which may take up to 5 business days.

Family GM Legacy applications are typically reviewed within 5 business days. If approved, the customer must still request an Authorization Number through the Family First website or call center. Submitting a Family Legacy application does not guarantee approval.
